During our honeymoon, Henry and I spent three and a half weeks traveling all over Italy. We wanted to have a mix of touristy experiences and romantic, authentic feeling experiences that would make our trip truly unforgettable. We researched and planned out every detail of our itinerary, and we were lucky enough to have some incredible experiences that we'll never forget.
In this blog post, we'll be sharing our top favorite experiences from our honeymoon in Italy. From horseback riding through the Tuscan countryside to a private painting lesson on Lake Como. Each experience was unique and special in its own way. We hope that by sharing our experiences, we can inspire other couples to create their own unforgettable honeymoon memories in Italy.
Starting with our horseback riding tour through the Tuscan countryside. This was one of the most amazing experiences we had on our honeymoon. As seasoned riders, we were excited to get out into the real rural countryside and explore the stunning scenery. We were picked up by a representative from the experience in Florence and driven about 35 minutes outside the city to a remote ranch where we were greeted by beautiful horses.
The ride itself was a true adventure, and we were given a lot of freedom to explore the rolling hills and vineyards on horseback. Trotting through the Tuscan countryside felt like a dream, and we felt like we were transported to a different time period. The experience was incredibly romantic and peaceful, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. We would highly recommend this experience to any couples who are looking for a unique and unforgettable way to explore Tuscany.
After our ride, we were treated to a delicious homemade meal prepared by a local chef at a private winery estate. We enjoyed some of the best wines in the region, and the meal was the perfect way to end our day of adventure. Overall, this experience was a highlight of our honeymoon and we would do it again in a heartbeat.
Our private painting lesson on the water of Lake Como was one of the most unique and memorable experiences of our honeymoon. We were picked up by boat and taken to a secluded spot on the lake where our instructor was waiting for us. We were taught how to make oil paint from scratch, and we were able to paint the stunning scenery around us. It was incredibly peaceful and romantic, and we enjoyed sipping on wine while we painted.
One of the coolest parts of our private painting lesson on Lake Como was that we got to learn how to make the same oil paint that DaVinci used! Our instructor showed us how to mix different pigments with linseed oil and how to grind them with a mortar and pestle until we had the perfect consistency. It was fascinating to learn about the history of oil painting and to see how the process hasn't changed much over the centuries.
We both felt like we learned a lot during our lesson and it was incredible to see how our homemade paint turned out when we applied it to our canvases. It definitely added to the sense of accomplishment we felt at the end of the lesson. We were both blown away by how vibrant and rich the colors of our paintings were, and we could really see the difference that the homemade paint made. It was a truly special experience that we will never forget. Overall, we would highly recommend this experience to any couples who love art or are looking for a unique and romantic way to explore Lake Como.
Booking these experiences through Viator was incredibly easy and stress-free. The Viator app made it simple to search for and book the experiences that we were interested in, and we were able to communicate with the experience providers directly through the app. This made it easy to ask any questions we had, and we received quick and helpful responses. Having all of our bookings in one place on the app made it easy to keep track of our itinerary, and we appreciated being able to access our tickets and reservations on our phones. Overall, using Viator made our honeymoon planning much smoother and more convenient, and we use it often for all of our travels.
